THE VOTES ARE IN & THE DECISION MADE!

WHO WILL BE THE FACE OF SUN-U?

Find out at the Cafeteria this Wednesday (10 September), 12.30pm.

You missed their videos? Don’t worry!
Here are the videos of our 3 finalist, Jann, Cassie and Faisal.
Remember to vote for your favorites! Your votes mean a lot to them!

THE FINAL ROUND IS HERE! BRING IN YOUR VOTES!

So after racking their brains during Round 3’s challenge, the final challenge for our Final Three Faces - Faisal, Cassie and Jann - was to get their creative juices flowing and to film a video of themselves telling you why they should be crowned the Face of Sun-U.

On 25 August 2008 (Monday) at the cafeteria, we will be screening these publicity videos made personally by your final three Faces from 10.30am to 3pm. But this is where their efforts stop. In order to win the title, they will be relying on YOUR votes.

So come on down to the cafeteria and make your decision on who should deserve to be the Face of Sun-U!

If you are unable to attend the screening, fear not, for it will also be available for viewing on ECHOnline. Also available right below here is a video recap of the entire competition.

For details on how to vote via SMS, log on to ECHOnline on Monday or receive updates from the Facebook event.

Until then, see ya!

BRAINIACS DOMINATE ROUND 3!

Faizal

So Round 2’s test of physical endurance was a game the jocks were comfortable with. But Round 3’s game of general knowledge proved to test the brains of the brawny. Pressure was on a high as Round 3 was the last round before we eliminated 3 contestants to get our final four Faces (and this time, we weren’t joking).

Unfortunately, we had to bid an early farewell to Gim Soon, who was unable to make it for this Round’s challenge. Nonetheless, ECHO would like to applaud his enthusiasm in FOSU so far and wishes him the best in his future endeavours!

In this round of FOSU, contestants were asked 15 questions that ranged from the scientific to the geographic to the just plain confusing!

Divya

Divya

But not to worry, as always, some privileges were given based on Round 2’s results where some contestants could skip questions and ask for help from the audience if their minds went blank.

Calvin

Faisal and Amin who had been leading the race thus far, were less than confident about this round whereas Calvin and Jann remained cool as ever.

From the smallest ocean in the world, to the underlying meaning of the famous Einstein equation ‘e=mc2‘, contestants had a tough time deliberating on some of the most seemingly simple questions that they had just simply forgotten about!

Eventually, the ADTP trio of Calvin, Amin and Jann remained on tops again, with Calvin nailing 14 out of 15 question correctly, and Amin and Jann both earning a score of 12.

Cassie

Cassie

Cassie once again upped the game for the girls by getting 12 alongside Amin and Jann, leaving Divya and Faisal to trail behind with 10 and 9 points respectively.

Jann

But who are now the Final Four? Well, you can either do the math, or just wait until this Tuesday for the Final Round, as our four faces campaign for the last time to win YOUR votes.

So yes, once again, they will be needing YOUR help to crown one of them as the Face of Sun-U! Who is it going to be?

You decide! Come down to the cafeteria next Wednesday (August 20 2008) and vote for your Face of Sun-U!

NOMINEES OF THE FACE OF SUN-U

Okay people. We know that there’s a couple of you out there who’s still confuse as to who is who. So, to make things clear, here are the nominees…….. So keep an eye out for them. One of them might very well be the Face of SUN-U, representing both you and me, in the next up and coming ECHOmag.

Phew! And ROUND 2’s done with!

Contestants were warned to do some stretching before the Face of Sun-U’s Round 2 challenge last Tuesday on 29 July, and boy, did they need it! Evidently, it was a round in the Jock’s favour.

All set!

Round 2 involved newspapers… Lots of newspapers. So contestants were ready for a little mess.

Divia

Divya

By the time eggs and spoons were revealed, most of them thought they’d figure it out. But this round was much more than just holding the eggs in your spoons. The twist was that all contestants had to balance the

eggs in their spoons while holding their arms out at shoulder height and squatting. Talk about ouch!

Jann

Jann

The time to beat was at set to 10 minutes, with penalties based on last week’s results taken into account. After the 6 minutes, contestants were allowed to hold on as long as they want in order to earn privileges for Round 3.

Faisal

However, strong willpower proved to prevail and most contestants managed to hold in their positions for as long as half an hour!!!

Eventually the three part-jocks and part-brainiacs Calvin, Jann and Amin were the last ones standing,

with Calvin eventually dropping both his eggs at the 52nd minute. Amin eventually threw in the towel at the 57th minute with Jann following soon after.

Cassie

However, taking penalties into account, Amin emerged as the overall winner of FOSU’s Round 2! Here are the results (after penalties dealt):

1st: Amin (55 mins) [Retired]

2nd: Jann (54 mins) [Retired]

3rd: Calvin (45 mins)

4th: Cassie (37 mins)

5th: Faisal (35 mins) [Retired]

6th: Gim Soon (28 mins)

7th: Divya (8 mins)

Everyone was surely impressed at the endurance of our FOSU contestants, but we’ve still got a few more rounds to go, so stay tuned to Round 3 this week to find out who’s closer at clinching the title of ‘Face of Sun-U’!!!

21 July 2008

FOSU’s ROUND 1 is over! And the results are..

Everyone finally got to meet the Face of Sun-U (FOSU, for practical sake) participants personally during the 1st round of FOSU on Monday (21 July).

Participants were made to campaign for themselves at the cafeteria and garner as many votes as possible from bystanders and lunchers within 15 minutes. Votes were casted by sticking a signed post-it note on the campaign cardboard of a participant of their choice. For the shy FOSU participant, this was the time to get his/her extroverted side on!

Well, votes have been tallied but…. surprise, surprise: Nobody has been eliminated!

The votes collected from the 1st Round will be carried on to our 2nd Round coming to you next Tuesday (29 July) at the cafeteria! So watch out and cheer for YOUR Face of Sun-U!

We’re looking for two dynamic faces, one guy and one girl, that represent the image of SUN-U! This pair will also grace the cover of ECHO’s October issue! Are you TWO out of 7,500?

Registration ended at 6th June, stay tuned for the nominees..

Are you a Jock? A Brainiac? A Fashionista?

ECHO is looking for a cover face for our magazine’s October issue, but we’re not looking for just any pretty face. We’re looking for one guy and one girl–two people who embody every single one of us at SUN-U! So whether you’re a sports enthusiast of a Jock, or a walking encyclopedia of a Brainiac, or as a la mode as a Fashionista, it’s time to break free and show other sides to yourself: can you possibly be the Face that identifies with SUN-U? Register yourselves at our booth or online and also send us a paragraph complete description of all about you. Show us your personality: how much of a Jock, Brainiac or Fashionista are you? But, more importantly, tell us what it is about you that makes you the perfect student image of Sunway University College! Your essays must reach us by 6 June 2008. Either email them to echonline.su@gmail.com or drop a hard copy to Terence Lim at the SSD. Through your essays, we will shortlist those that we think stand a chance to reach the top. The shortlisted Faces will be announced on 15 July 2008 during the launch of ECHO magazine’s July issue. Over a series of rounds, the Jocks, Brainiacs and Fashionistas will compete amongst themselves and garner for popular votes in order to keep themselves in the competition. Votes are calculated through an aggregate of student votes as well as the decision of a panel of judges. Eventually, only six – a pair from each category – will remain. But at this point, the categories will no longer matter, for these six finalists will have to battle beyond their stereotype casts in order to become one of the Two Faces of SUN-U! So, do you think you’ve got what it takes? Then what are you waiting for? Register now and tell us why you’re the Face of SUN-U!

*Only registered students of Sunway University College, Bandar Sunway campus, are allowed to participate in this event*
